With more than 1.5 million tourists visiting the country each year, Tanzania is the most tourist attractions spoilt region of Africa, diverse, adventurous, and vibrant destination.

Despite the country being famous for mid-range tours, Tanzania also happens to be one of the world’s most ultra-luxurious resorts whether it be in the wilderness during wildlife safaris or beach enclaves, Tanzania is home for a good number of luxury hotels and lodges.

At Serengeti Insider Safaris, we are known for planning Tanzania luxury safaris while ensuring the packages are customized to the likings of our customers for even more satisfaction. If you’re looking to plan for a luxury safari in Tanzania, you need to know the following;

Best time for a luxury safari

There is a better time to visit Tanzania for your luxury safari, and that is during the dry season of the year which starts from June all the way to the end of October.

However, saying that the best time for a luxury Tanzania tour is during the drier months of June, July, August, September, and October doesn’t tell the whole story. In fact, the best time will as well depend on your interest and what you’d want to see in the safari.

If you want to want to experience the calving season by wildebeests for example, late January to February is the best time to be in the Southern Serengeti where nothing less than 8,000 baby wildebeests are born every single day when the calving season is at its peak.

So, really, while it is universally agreed that the best time to do Tanzania luxury safari trip is during the drier months, your interests towards doing a safari should dictate the best time for you.

How to get into Tanzania

Tanzania is easily reached by flights and if you are looking for better places to find flights to any of the East Africa countries for your luxury safari, you may need to get some ideas from Sky scanner as well as Expedia.

Depending on your itinerary, you may land to either of Kilimanjaro International Airport (KIA) or Julius Nyerere International Airport (JNIA). KIA is for those who are doing their safari in the Northern tourism circuit of the country which is home of Serengeti, Ngorongoro, Tarangire, Lake Manyara, Mount Kilimanjaro, and Arusha national park.

KIA is just 46km from Arusha city, a starting point to the Northern circuit safaris.

Elsewhere for the visitors who are taking the pristine Southern circuit which hosts Ruaha national park and Selous game reserve should land to JNIA which is located in Dar es Salaam, the largest city of the country.

Travel requirements for a Tanzania luxury safari

Before getting to Tanzania for your luxury safari, the most important requirements you should have are;

Health
If you are from a yellow fever endemic country or stay there for more than 6 hours you will need to get a yellow fever vaccine. The yellow fever endemic countries are:

Angola, Argentina, Benin, Bolivia, Brazil, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Central Africa Republic, Chad, Colombia, Costa Rica, Congo, Cote d’Ivoire, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ecuador, El Salvador, Equatorial Guinea, Ethiopia, French Guyana, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Guatemala, Guinea, Guinea Bissau, Kenya, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, Honduras, Nicaragua, Nigeria, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Rwanda, Sao Tome and Principle, Senegal, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, Sudan, Suriname, Togo, Trinidad, Uganda, and Venezuela.

Entry Requirement
A valid visa is necessary
Depending on your nationality, you can get your visa ahead of time or buy it at the airport upon arrival. Some nationalities require their visa bought ahead of time. To find more about Visa, see this post

Packing
Shorts and a T-shirt are perfectly adequate daytime wear on safari, but long trousers and warmer clothing might be required at mornings and nights, to protect against cold and against mosquitoes. Generally, August/September are hot months (30 °C to 33°C and a little cooler in the mornings and at night).

The predominantly Islamic inhabitants of the coast and offshore islands are used to tourists and are reasonably tolerant of Western dress codes. Nevertheless, it is still advisable for women not to wear too short clothes (above their knees, too tight clothes or clothes that will not cover part of their bodies). Long dresses and skirts are better than trousers while in the cost (Zanzibar/Pemba islands). Avoid clothes with too bright colors (especially blue) as they can attract some insects.

Binoculars are essential to watch distant wildlife in the game reserves. For most purposes, 7Ă—21 compact binoculars will be fine, but birdwatchers will find a 10x magnification more useful, and should definitely carry a good field guide.

If you wear contact lenses, bring all the fluids you need, possibly a pair of glasses as a fallback – many safarigoers find the combination of sun, dust, and dryness irritating their eyes.
