Lake Manyara National Park Safari Guide
Lake Manyara is a compact and varied park beneath the Rift Valley escarpment. Its groundwater forest, open floodplains, soda lake and escarpment viewpoints create excellent scenery and a surprising range of wildlife.
Wildlife highlights
Elephants, giraffes, buffalo, zebra, hippos and large troops of baboons are commonly seen. The park is also rewarding for birding, with flamingos and wetland species when water conditions are right.
Why visit Lake Manyara?
The park is easy to combine with Tarangire and Ngorongoro, making it ideal for shorter northern circuits and family trips. It offers a change of scenery from the open Serengeti.
Best season
Wildlife viewing is generally strong in the dry months, while the green season offers lush forest, dramatic skies and excellent birdlife.
