Tarangire National Park Safari Guide
Tarangire is known for giant baobabs, seasonal wetlands and some of the largest elephant concentrations in northern Tanzania. It is an excellent first or final park on a northern circuit.
Wildlife highlights
Elephants are the park’s signature wildlife, but Tarangire also supports giraffes, zebra, wildebeest, buffalo, impala, lions and many bird species. During the dry season, animals gather around the Tarangire River.
Best time to visit
June to October is strong for concentrated wildlife viewing. The green season brings fresh vegetation, beautiful light and often fewer vehicles.
How to include Tarangire
Two nights works well for a first visit. Combine it with Lake Manyara or Ngorongoro, then continue to the Serengeti for a complete northern Tanzania safari.
